Pat Jobe: ‘Marking Time Near Our Birthday’ We might do things five days from now just as we are doing them now, but what about five years from now? How will we function as a congregation in 2031? Our congregation turns 16 on June 13. How are we doing the things we feel are best about congregational life? We have been challenged to do more. What might that look like? The Rev. Pat Jobe joined our Fellowship on Aug. 1, 2020. He is married to his lovely spouse Gabe and is an enthusiastic supporter of UU Lake Norman, FeedNC, Heart of the Carolinas UU Animal Ministry, the Barefoot Ministry, and all work done by UUs in our area. Share the Plate will be this Sunday, June 7 and proceeds will benefit the minister’s discretionary fund. Most of you know that we’re helping folks in financial crisis with these funds. Services can be viewed live at 3:10 p.m., and later for replays, by clicking here to reach them on our website. Information on upcoming services can also be found on our Facebook page. June 14 – Rev. Pat Jobe: ‘Emphasis on Doing Rather Than Saying What We Believe’ Meet Margaret Fuller, a Unitarian who was among the earliest feminists in America and the world. So few feminist voices came along prior to the 1800’s. What? How was this possible? How did it change? Quarterly Humanist Gathering The quarterly meeting of the Humanists of Lake Norman will take place this Sunday, June 7 at the Friends Meeting House in Davidson, 625 South St., following the UU Lake Norman service. A social gathering will start at 4:15 p.m., followed by the program at 4:30 p.m. It will be a 30-minute video presentation of The Religion of Democracy by Fish Stark, executive director of the American Humanist Association and a UU Humanist, that was delivered at the First Unitarian Society of Minneapolis. The video is entertaining as well as enlightening. It will be followed a group discussion. Humanists and UUs as well as all interested in this life philosophy based on reason and human dignity are welcome. For questions: Steve Whitfield or Jeff Blum. ![]() We need volunteers for our next shift at FeedNC in Mooresville on Thursday, June 11, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. No experience is needed to chop, cook, serve and clean.Contact Jim Arnold (click here) if you’re able to help.
