May 17 – Rev. Justin Martin: ‘Being Human in Public’If someone asks, “How are you doing?” what do you say? What does “fine” or “great” really mean? Rev. Martin will take us a little deeper on May 17.Rev. Justin is a UU Minister, working at Caldwell Presbyterian Church in Charlotte.  He claims to have far too many children and to love baseball and jazz.

Services can be viewed live at 3:10 p.m., and later for replays, by visiting our website. Information on upcoming services can also be found on our Facebook page.

May 24 – Rev. Pat Jobe: ‘Naming Names, Facing Faces’The power of names, faces, identity in a world of confusion, pain and things that are hard to deal with. The Rev. Pat Jobe joined our Fellowship on Aug. 1, 2020. He is married to his lovely spouse Gabe and is an enthusiastic supporter of UU Lake Norman, FeedNC, Heart of the Carolinas UU Animal Ministry, the Barefoot Ministry, and all work done by UUs in our area.

Our successful auction was truly a stunning surprise. We had almost no support from other congregations and yet exceeded last year’s total by around $2,000.

And we had glorious fun. Some people come just for the food and fun and that is great. More positive feedback. We are a winning team. Special thanks to all who made it happen.

Share the Plate

Share the Plate will be the first Sunday in June and proceeds will benefit the minister’s discretionary fund. Most of you know that we’re helping folks in financial crisis with these funds. Recent Share the Plate Sundays have come as a surprise to some folks. This one will not.

The 2026 “Peace, Love, Bid Auction” has come to a close (unofficially).  The event at Bailey’s Glen was wonderful, with the many costumed participants bidding on all the great items!  The food, drinks, music and laughter all added up to an amazing evening. Our total from the auction at this time is (drum roll please) ….

 $11,549
Babs Vitale and husband John got into the spirit of this year’s hippie-themed fundraising auction!
Thanks to all for taking part.

But we can do better than that by bidding on items in the Second Chance Auction! These items did not completely sell out, so if you would like to grab one of the available spots, give Pat Wall a call:

#11 – Birdhouse painting at Agnes Fiore’s home, July 17, $20, three spots available.
#13 – Private wine class on Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. at Total Wine & More. We get to taste and learn about California wines this year. $25, 12 spots available.
#25 – Billiards and lunch with Jeff Blum at a convenient time for all. $60, two spots.
#33 – Blueberry picking at the Hesses’s farm in August. Two spots available.
#34 – Hot dog party with Jim Price and Sue Friday at Jim’s house for $10 (unlimited spots),  April 17, 2027.
#36 – Lazy 5 Ranch — a wagon ride through the exotic animal farm. You get to feed the animals and enjoy a picnic lunch after the ride. $30, 16 spots.

Invoices will be available once again at services this Sunday.  If you will not be there to pick up, please let Pat know so she can send it to you. Payment can be made by cash, credit card or check to Linda Heydenburg.  Checks are preferred, if possible.  Thanks to all who participated in any way to help the 2026 auction become a roaring success!  It takes a village and we certainly have one at UU Lake Norman!

Our talented Jane Pope came up with a ditty that “popped into my head while driving,” and sang it last Sunday. Here are the lyrics to UU Welcome, set to the tune of Are You Sleeping, for those who weren’t there. Lovely, Jane!We love questions

Grab your green shirts and gloves — it’s time for the next fence build by Heart of the Carolinas UU Animal Ministry! This Saturday, we are returning to what we do best, building a safe space for a well-deserving dog and family. Kane has been healing after being involved in an accident earlier in the year. He’s ready for some room to run.

If you have been following our fence building mission but have not joined in a build, we would love to see you. No experience or sign-ups needed. We just ask you to come willing to help and have a good time!       _________________________
