![]() Sunday Service, 3 P.M.: FRIENDS MEETING HOUSE 625 SOUTH ST., DAVIDSON Please visit our events calendar for more information. Mail: P.O. Box 991 Davidson, NC 28036 PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO THE END OF THE NEWSLETTER April 19 – Rev. Pat Jobe: ‘The Shadows are Getting Longer’As much as we would like to stay cheerful, the shadows are getting longer. The darkness is sad and threatens our sanity. We can stabilize by remembering those who have loved us and encouraged us over the years. The Rev. Pat Jobe joined our Fellowship on Aug. 1, 2020. He is married to his lovely spouse Gabe and is an enthusiastic supporter of UU Lake Norman, FeedNC, Heart of the Carolinas UU Animal Ministry, the Barefoot Ministry, and all work done by UUs in our area. Services can be viewed live at 3:10 p.m., and later for replays, by visiting our website. Information on upcoming services can also be found on our Facebook page. April 26 – Clint Tawes: ‘If You Knew Me Then’This message explores the power and necessity of transformation. Drawing on the story of Paul’s Damascus Road experience, it reframes change not as a single dramatic moment, but as an ongoing, sacred process of growth, self-examination, and becoming.Clint Tawes is a father of three daughters, a middle school English teacher, and an aspiring Unitarian Universalist minister. He is a former ordained Pentecostal minister and is currently in the process of becoming a UU minister. Clint holds a B.A. in English from the College of Charleston and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Georgia Southern University. He is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity degree at Starr King School for the Ministry. Clint lives in Charleston, S.C., where he is a member of the Unitarian Church. ![]() Believing we are enough? Our April 12 service felt like it went over pretty well. Thanks to all who are mulling how to meet the challenges before you, especially anything you can do to bring picnic food and hippie garb to the auction on May 9. If you have a special event or priceless treasure to donate to the auction, let Pat Wall know ASAP.The five people who spoke during the April 12 talkback really gunned my engine. Thanks especially to Sue Cunningham for her words. After service our pastoral care committee met to talk about how we do that work. What a great bunch: chaired by Natalie Heling, the committee is made up of Mary Nicholson, Sue Friday, Nancy Embry and Naomi Gunn. Hal Rubin, Tim Brown, Alan Perkinson and others dealing with various challenges have all expressed appreciation for the care they have gotten. We are good at caring for each other. That kind of care is precious beyond measure. John Lawrence says he is backing away for the time being. Not mad at anybody. Just feeling a little older and not liking to burn $4 gas. ![]() Heart of Carolinas UU Animal Ministry will resume building fences in mid- May. In the meantime, on Saturday, April 25 at 9 a.m., we will be building dog houses. If you would be interested in helping, let Claudia know (704-280-2354). Donations of money or unused roofing shingles are always welcome. FeedNC in Mooresville needs our help to chop, cook, serve and wash from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 14.
