Activism – Neighborhood Networking Needed!
The community we serve is outside the Charlotte city bubble. People here in the suburbs and rural areas, only a short distance from the city, are in trouble. Racist slurs and anti-LGBTQ speech are only the start of what are genuine threats. “Liberal” community activists in small non-profits and organizations are being singled out – they are losing jobs, being kicked out of housing, and having fake information about them spread online. One group working with gender non-conforming youth had so many false stories spread about them online that it caused police to investigate them for child abuse. The fact is that these large, fear-based hate groups are going after small, marginalized groups because they are easy to target and cannot easily defend themselves. If you also cannot stand it any longer and want to get involved, even to learn more – please click the link here and fill out the form. Thank you for your involvement!
Other ways you can help support UUFLKN
As a small congregation, we are largely dependent on volunteers to make the life of the fellowship happen. Listed below are currently identified areas of need – but if you see something else that needs doing and fits your skills, feel free to speak up and lend a hand!
