DESCRIPTION:Heart of the Carolinas UU Animal Ministry will be building a fence for Wee Bit and Potamas. We have all the tools you will need and a friendly group of people to teach you everything you need to know. Just show up and be prepared to have a great time\, meet some new people\, and enjoy seeing some very happy dogs! Organized by Jim Price and Claudia Perkinson. You can reach them by email or by filling out a Contact Form. \n\n\n\nIf you have not been to a fence build in a while\, please join us this Saturday.  We have some new “tricks” that we have learned and a build is usually completed by 11:30 a.m. It’s a great way to help those dogs (and their humans) and spend quality time with like-minded animal lovers. DESCRIPTION:Visit us in person or watch online! \n\n\n\nDec. 21 – Abbess Ayya Sudhamma: ‘Journey to Wisdom’ \n\n\n\nAbbess Sudhamma will share her amazing journey in traveling the world and studying Theravada Buddhism. \n\n\n\nAbbess Ayya Sudhamma was raised in Charlotte. She was an attorney before leaving home in 1998 to become a Buddhist nun. She received her novice orientation in 1999 and higher ordination in 2003. The Abbess is the first American woman ordained in Sri Lanka\, and was recognized by the UN in Bangkok as an “Outstanding Woman in Buddhism.” Abbess Sudhamma served as the resident monk at the Greenville\, S.C. Buddhist Vihana for over eight years\, and visited a monastery in Australia for most of 2012. She is now glad to be back home as Abbess of the Charlotte Buddhist Vihara.

Ending sometimes “puts a bow on things.” We all need good beginnings\, middles and ends. \n\n\n\nWe will be holding our annual meeting on Sunday\, Dec. 14\, following our regular service. DESCRIPTION:Visit us in person or watch online! \n\n\n\nDec. 7 – Jane Pope: ‘Harp to Heart: Peace with Strings Attached’ \n\n\n\nJane Pope will play her Celtic harp and offer some wisdom she’s picked up from plucking its strings for almost 40 years. \n\n\n\nJane performed with her husband Gary\, a fiddler\, as The Dawn Treaders. They played folk festivals\, Scottish highland games\, weddings and other events from Chicago to Orlando until his death in 2007. She is a retired newspaper editor and has been a member of this Fellowship since August 2024.
